Former Texas A&M-Commerce QB Luis Perez Returning For Arlington Renegades 2024 Season

Arlington Renegades quarterback Luis Perez officially signs his letter of intent to play for the team in 2024.

Luis Perez is ready to run it back with the Arlington Renegades.

The Renegades quarterback from their 2023 XFL championship squad has re-signed with the team for the 2024 season. Perez inked his letter of intent on Thursday.

Perez’s 2023 XFL season had its ups and downs as he started the season starting for the Vegas Vipers in four of the first six games. He was traded after six games to Arlington to be the Renegades' starter for the remainder of the season. Perez led the Renegades to an XFL Championship win over the D.C. Defenders that included a 288-yard and three-touchdown performance to win the game’s MVP award.

He spent time with the New Jersey Generals in 2022, throwing for 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns with an interception. The TSL had him as the quarterback for the Jousters in 2021 as well.

His first XFL stop in 2020 was similar to his 2023 season, starting with the Los Angeles Wildcats before being traded to the New York Guardians and starting two games. He started seven of eight games for the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football in 2019.

The Renegades needed a veteran quarterback on their roster. Lindsey Scott and Drew Plitt are expected to challenge Perez for the starting job, along with Holton Ahlers. Coach Bob Stoops tried going with the younger quarterback Plitt over Kyle Sloter a year ago, but Plitt struggled. Perez gives the Renegades an experienced option behind center if the others aren't ready.
