Breaking: Date Set for The Ultimate Fighter 31 Finals

The finals of The Ultimate Fighter 31 will take place at UFC 292, Sports Illustrated has learned.
The card, which takes place on August 19 in Boston, is headlined by Sean O’Malley challenging bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, who is attempting to set a new record in the division with a fourth straight title defense. There are two title bouts at UFC 292, which also includes women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili putting her belt on the line against Amanda Lemos.
Additionally, per sources close to the organization, UFC 292 will be the site of The Ultimate Fighter 31 finals.
In the finals of the bantamweight bracket, Brad Katona will attempt to become the first-ever two-time TUF winner when he fights the winner of the Rico DiSciullo-Cody Gibson bout. For the lightweights, Austin Hubbard will compete against the winner of Jason Knight-Kurt Holobaugh.
Both fights are expected to take place on the prelims, and the winners will receive UFC contracts.
This season of The Ultimate Fighter was led by head coaches Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, who are tentatively scheduled to fight one another in 2024. Both coaches will be represented in the finals. Katona started on Team Chandler but he switched late in the season to Team McGregor, while Hubbard is part of Team Chandler.
Chandler is expected to be in Boston for UFC 292. McGregor’s status for the event is yet to be determined.
