AEW star Cash Wheeler was arrested this morning by the Orlando Police Department.

News of the arrest was first reported by the Orlando Sentinel. The 36-year-old Cash, whose name is Daniel Wheeler, was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm and was booked in Circuit Court.

One-half of the AEW tag team champions FTR, Wheeler plays a valuable role for the company. He is scheduled to be in a major pay-per-view match at All In on August 27, which takes place at Wembley Stadium in London.

Here is the official statement from AEW: “AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities.”

FTR is currently scheduled to defend the tag titles against the Young Bucks at All In, which was the key story in the closing segment of this past week’s Dynamite. Wheeler’s arrest immediately complicates that pay-per-view match, as possibilities exist that he will be suspended by AEW or even potentially unable to fly out of the country because of the severity of the charge.

Sports Illustrated will continue to cover the story.
