McIntyre won a very entertaining Elimination Chamber match, overcoming Randy Orton, Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, and LA Knight. WrestleMania 40 matches were built–especially between AJ Styles, who interfered and cost Knight the match–but ultimately this was centered around McIntyre, Orton, and Paul.

While McIntyre winning is no shock, the finish came in an unexpected manner. Orton appeared to have the match won with an RKO on McIntyre. But Paul, who was eliminated by Orton, returned and knocked Orton out with a pair of brass knuckles, allowing McIntyre to win the match.

McIntyre has brought constant value to WWE since his return in 2017. Against difficult odds, he has re-emerged as a world title contender.
Four years after winning the WWE title at WrestleMania 36 in front of a closed off Performance Center amid the pandemic, McIntyre now challenges Seth Rollins for the world heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 40.
