Georgetown Preparatory School lacrosse coach Kevin Giblin resigned amid allegations he was involved in a bar fight in June, Washingtonian.com's Luke Mullins reports.

Under Giblin, the lacrosse team achieved two national No. 1 rankings and a 424-89 record over 27 seasons.

Georgetown Prep athletic director Dan Paro announced Giblin's resignation to the school yesterday.

Mullins reports Giblin left the program because of the bar fight.

Two sources familiar with the situation said Wednesday that Giblin’s resignation came as a direct result of the bar incident. “If he had not gotten into that fight, he would still be Prep's lacrosse coach,” said a person familiar with the situation.

Giblin declined to comment on the incident, according to Mullins.
