THIS WEEK’S NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

Jazmine Soto, Strathmore girls basketball: Soto had a monster week to lead Strathmore to a 3-0 stretch and CIFCS Division 5 title, averaging 32.7 points, four rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 7.7 steals per game.

Avery Cain, St. Joseph (Santa Maria) girls basketball: Cain led the Knights to a 2-0 week and Central Section Division 3 championship averaging 21 points per game. She also recorded five rebounds and four assists in the semifinal win over Porterville.

Giselle Calderon, Orcutt Academy girls basketball: Calderon averaged 18.5 points, four rebounds, 4.5 assists, and four steals per game in two games to help lead the Spartans to a CIFCS Division 4 title. Orcutt Academy also got stellar play from Erynn Padhal and Chyanna Medina-Tell last week.

Bella Stevens, Santa Cruz girls basketball: In three games last week en-route to a CIFCCS Division 3 title, Stevens averaged 24 points per game on well over 50% shooting, and had 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks in the Cardinals' semifinal win over El Camino.

Alli Dioli, Half Moon Bay girls basketball: In three games last week, Dioli led Half Moon Bay to a CIFCCS Division 4 title averaging 19 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and three steals per game on 60% EFG. Abby Kennedy also had a huge week for the Cougars.

Kacie Slover, Nipomo girls basketball: Slover led Nipomo to a 2-0 week and Central Section Division 2 title averaging 17 points and 15 rebounds per game.

Aidan Braccia, Sacred Heart Prep boys basketball: Braccia helped lead the Gators to a CIFCCS Division 4 title averaging 27 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.7 steals per game. Harrison Carrington also had a huge hand in Sacred Heart Prep's title run.

Brandon Bento-Jackson, Arcata boys basketball: Bento-Jackson helped lead Arcata to a 2-0 week averaging 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, and two assists per game, including a perfect 8-8 night from three in a win against McKinleyville.

Ryan Maddox, Clovis North softball: Maddox threw seven-inning complete games for wins in playoff wins over Redwood and Madera last week, allowing just two runs, zero earned runs, and five total hits, striking out 23.

Jessica Oakland, Saint Francis (Mountain View) softball: Oakland helped lead undefeated Saint Francis to a dominant CIFCCS Open Division title run, batting 5-8 in three games last week with two walks, four home runs, a double, seven RBIs, seven runs scored.

Jaz Hsiao, Saint Francis (Mountain View) softball: Hsiao was also unstoppable at the plate for the Lancers, going 5-9 hitting nothing but home runs, and finishing with 10 RBIs in three games.

Sophia Mariotinni, San Benito softball: Mariotinni dominated in all three games for San Benito last week on way to a Central Coast Section Division 2 title, getting three complete game victories and allowing no earned runs in 19 innings. She also went 3-7 with two walks and five RBIs.

Christal Lopez, Buchanan softball: Buchanan won both its playoff games last week thanks to complete game shutouts in both from Lopez, who only allowed six total hits. She also batted 3-6.

Tristan Fox, Archbishop Mitty baseball: In the Monarchs' only game last week, Fox threw a complete game shutout in a playoff win against Serra.

Ritter Amsbaugh, Palo Alto baseball: Amsbaugh led the Vikings to an 8-0 playoff win against Saint Francis in their only game last week, throwing a complete game shutout and hitting 2-3 with a walk, a homer, four RBIs, and two runs scored.

Gabriel Barrett, Mountain View baseball: In Mountain View's nine-inning 3-2 playoff win against Pioneer, Barrett went the distance on the mound, striking out 12 and not allowing any runs until the ninth. He also went 1-3 with an RBI.

Logan Sumter, Clovis baseball: Sumter helped lead the Cougars to a pair of playoff wins last week batting 4-7 with three RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk.
