FOLSOM, CALIFORNIA — They packed both sides of Folsom's High School's Praire City Stadium for Saturday's CIF Northern California Division 1-A championship game for good reason.
The game had a state berth on the line for one and with Folsom's 28-25 victory over Pittsburg, the home team will travel next week to Southern California to face St. Bonaventure-Venture for a state crown.
Folsom (12-2) will be after its fifth state crown.
Another reason why the stands were filled were to watch some of Northern California's top talents, including Folsom quarterback Ryder Lyons and Pittsburg junior trio of Jadyn Hudson, Jewelous Walls or Jamar Searcy, all top recruits.
In the end, the finished product matched the expectation in a terrific thriller right to the end. It made a good show for USC coach Lincoln Riley who observed the game from either end zone.
After the game, according to Lyons, who accounted for 334 yards and all four touchdowns, he was offered a scholarship by USC coach Lincoln Riley.
