Eleecia Carter leads Lake Highland Prep to rout of Woodward Academy in State Champions Invitational semifinals
TAMPA, Fla.- Junior guard Eleecia Carter scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Lake Highland Prep Lady Highlanders (Florida) into the inaugural State Champions Invitational championship game with an 81-57 rout of Woodward Academy (Georgia) on Friday.
Louisville signee Nyla Harris finished with a double-double (10 points and 14 rebounds), and the sophomore duo of Lexi Blue and Briana Rivera combined to make six of the Highlanders eight three-pointers.
Lake Highland Prep senior guard Sierra Godbolt had a terrific game distributing the ball, finishing with nine points and nine assists.
“We just take it one game at a time and go about our business,” Lake Highland Prep head coach Al Honor said after the game.
The War Eagles were led by senior guard Sydney Bowles who scored a game-high 24 points. She scored 15 of her 24 in the first half.
Junior guard Sara Lewis added 13 points for Woodward Academy.
The Highlanders only had seven players available due to numerous injuries, including starting point guard Stefanie Ingram, a Central Florida signee, who has not played all season.
The Highlanders will look to win the school’s first ever national championship on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET. The game will be nationally televised on ESPNU.
