49 days until Florida high school football season: One number for each day as we count down to kickoff 2023

SBLive Florida gives you one significant number per day as we mark the days until high school football returns.

The Florida high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 24 — 49 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Florida will give you one significant number per day.

49

It was the first year of Tim ‘Ice’ Harris being back on the sidelines for Miami Booker T. Washington in his fourth stint and the Tornadoes didn’t look like they ever missed a beat.

Harris’ offense did much of their damage offensively on the ground, but when you combine the total amount of touchdowns via passing and rushing was 49 scores.

The Tornadoes tossed 16 touchdowns through the air and scored 33 on the ground. Much of the ground attack was led by talented running back Antwan Smith Jr., who rushed for 1,530 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Booker T. Washington is expected to be one of South Florida’s top programs once again this fall and they’ll start off the season on Aug. 18 in the preseason against Plantation American Heritage before facing Killian in the regular season opener on Aug. 26.
