The Florida high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 24 — 28 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Florida will give you one significant number per day.

The Miami Northwestern Bulls have had a storied history over the course of the last three decades. Seven state championships and a number of former college and professional players coming from the program. 

What started the legacy that’s been built at Northwestern is 28 years ago in 1995 when the Bulls won their first of seven titles. Then head coach Willie Goldsmith led the Bulls to a 12-7 win in the Class 6A state championship over Sandalwood. 

It was the start of Northwestern seeing success at the elite state level, winning championships in 1998, 2006, 2007, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
