24 days until Florida high school football season: One number for each day as we count down to kickoff 2023

SBLive Florida gives you one significant number per day as we mark the days until high school football returns.

The Florida high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 24 — 24 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Florida will give you one significant number per day.

Whenever you think of state championships coming from Polk County, generally the schools you think of now are Lakeland and Lake Wales since they just won titles back in December.

There’s another team, however, that has a history behind them of winning state titles as Frostproof High School has won three championships in its program history. The Bulldogs were a contender last season in Class 2S and should be again this fall.

The last time Frostproof won a state championship was 24 years ago when they defeated Trinity Christian Academy 6-0 for the Class 2A championship back in 1999. Frostproof was led by then head coach Bill Pierstoff.
