The Florida High School Boys Basketball postseason is in full swing and we continue our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances.

As such, we have eight athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Suncoast high school boys basketball player of the week award from February 12-17, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, February 25th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Congratulations to Sarasota Christian’s Matthias Hulka for winning last week’s South Suncoast poll!

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominees:

Chris Cornish, Charlotte: The slasher had himself another strong outing, scoring 17 points in a 57-25 victory over Bloomingdale.

Kevin O’Donoghue, Cardinal Mooney: Despite in a losing effort, the senior scored a team-high 12 points in the Cougars’ loss to First Baptist Academy of Naples.

Josh Harris, Sarasota Riverview: The sophomore led the comeback trail in the Rams’ thrilling 58-54 win over rival Sarasota, scoring a team-high 15 points.

Marcus Schade, Braden River: The senior guard tallied a game-high 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting in a 68-51 win over Port Charlotte.

Ben Milliken, Sarasota Christian: The sophomore closed out the season with another solid performance, scoring a team-high 21 points in a loss to Admiral Farragut.

KJ Turner, Sebring: The senior was stellar in the Blue Streaks’ 61-58 loss to Barron Collier, tallying 18 points and dishing out five assists.

Jovan Palavra, Sarasota Booker: Palavra is back on this list after scoring 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting and leading the Tornadoes to a 63-47 win over Robinson.

Jaden Baker, Bradenton Christian: The Panthers did everything they could to stay in it against a tough Gateway Charter club, with Baker scoring a team-high 25 points in the loss.
