FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA- For the second time in the last six months, 2025 quarterback Preston Wright will be transferring to a new school.

According to Prep Redzone’s Larry Blustein, Wright has left Cardinal Gibbons to transfer over to national power Chaminade-Madonna. Wright started in the Class 1S state championship game in 2022 and 2023 for Trinity Catholic before leaving for Cardinal Gibbons.

Cardinal Gibbons head coach Matt DuBuc confirmed via text message that Wright was no longer with the Chiefs’ program.

Now the 2025 signal caller heads to the Lions, where he would presumably serve as the backup to Zac Katz, who transferred in to Chaminade-Madonna from True North Classical.

This past 2023 season was Wright’s best between 2022-2023, with the quarterback completing 150-of-265 passes for 2,047 yards, 20 touchdowns to just six interceptions.

Trinity Catholic (6-8) narrowly fell in the 2023 Class 1S state championship game, 31-27, to Cardinal Mooney of Sarasota. Wright in the title game went 19-of-35 passing for 164 yards and a touchdown In the loss. 

In 2022, Wright for the season finished completing 93-of-128 passes for 1,274 yards, 11 touchdowns and just a mere two interceptions.
