THIS WEEK’S WAFD BANK SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:
Penny Barnett, Capital: Barnett threw a complete-game victory against Borah, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 in a 3-0 win.
Riley Dorius, Malad: Dorius picked up the win on the mound, throwing a complete game and allowing just two earned runs, while adding two hits and an RBI at the plate in Malad's 9-6 win over Bear Lake.
Brylee Egan, West Jefferson: Egan went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead West Jefferson to a 14-2 win over South Fremont.
Megan Johnson, Preston: Johnson blasted three homers and drove in six runs to lead Preston to an 18-3 win over Shelley.
Makayla Stoker, Bishop Kelly: Stoker blasted two home runs and drove in six runs to help lead Bishop Kelly to a 24-14 win over Vallivue.
Amber Thornton, Timberline: Thornton struck out eight in three innings on the mound and added four RBIs at the plate to lead Timberline to a 13-1 win over Boise.
Lolo Walker, Rocky Mountain: Walker went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to lead the Grizzlies to an 8-3 win over Kuna.
Jorja Welch, Nampa: Welch went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBI to lead Nampa to a 17-3 win over Caldwell.
Abbey Wilkins, Rigby: Wilkins belted four hits - including a home run - and drove in a pair of runs to help lead Rigby to a doubleheader sweep of Idaho Falls.
Emily Zavala, Melba: Zavala went 3-for-3 with a triple, double and three RBIs in Melba's 15-2 win over Marsing.
