Top Arizona boys basketball stars, Feb. 1-7
Garrett Anderson, Sandra Day O’Connor
The senior had a game-high 22 points in Tuesday’s 73-59 loss to Boulder Creek. He added four steals and four rebounds.
Chuck Bailey, Higley
The sophomore had 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in an 82-78 loss to Poston Butte on Monday.
Joel Becerra, San Tan Foothills
In Friday’s 67-60 loss to Pusch Ridge, the junior posted 21 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Andrew Camacho, Peoria
The sophomore posted 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in Peoria’s 67-49 loss to Desert Edge on Tuesday.
David Cardenas, Wickenburg
The senior racked up 29 points, three steals, two rebounds and five deflections in Tuesday’s 74-22 win over Kingman.
Steven Cervantes, Mesa
The senior went off Tuesday, scoring half (32 points) of Mesa’s points in the Jackrabbits’ 64-45 victory over Skyline.
Jake Clapper, Desert Edge
The senior led Desert Edge in scoring with 21 points in the Scorpions’ 67-49 victory over Peoria. Clapper also had seven rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Cougar Cooke, Show Low
The junior notched a double-double in Tuesday’s 78-58 loss to Winslow with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Tanner Crawford, Mesa
The senior helped Mesa improve to 6-1 by posting a double-double in Friday’s game against Red Mountain. He had 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Jaden De Boer, Valley Christian
The senior had 24 points, four rebounds and two steals in Tuesday’s 67-48 win over Eastmark.
Jay Edwards, Joseph City
Edwards, a senior, had an explosive game Tuesday, putting up 46 points and 20 rebounds in Joseph City’s 79-46 win over St. Michael.
Oakland Fort, Sunnyslope
The junior makes yet another appearance on the list for his dynamic play. He racked up 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in Tuesday’s 69-52 victory over Valley Vista.
Tyren Gibbs, Shadow Ridge
The junior had 23 points and five assists in a 69-62 win over Canyon View on Tuesday.
Miles Guliford, Liberty
The senior led the Lions in scoring Tuesday with 20 points in a 106-52 rout of Mountain Ridge. Guliford also had six assists and four steals in the blowout win.
Carter John, Bradshaw Mountain
Putting up 24 points to lead the team in scoring, Johnson also had four rebounds, two assists and a steal to help lift the Bears to a 49-41 win over Flagstaff on Tuesday. The senior had a nearly repeat performance in Thursday’s 50-48 victory over Mingus, posting 23 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Isaiah Kai, Campo Verde
In a rough week following the news of the loss of a former teammate, the sophomore had an outstanding performance with 32 points, five assists and four rebounds in a 73-70 overtime loss to Williams Field.
McCoy Kelly, ALA-Queen Creek
The junior had 23 points, four rebounds and two assists in the Patriots’ 62-60 loss to Saguaro on Tuesday.
Grady Lewis, Sunnyslope
The senior had 24 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in Friday’s 67-60 victory over St. Mary’s.
Isaac Lujan, Combs
The senior posted 23 points, four steals and three assists in Friday’s 66-36 win over Vista Grande.
Trenton McLaughlin, Basha
The senior had a double-double Friday, including 36 points, to help lift the Bears to an 88-71 victory over Higley.
Daryian Matthews, Dysart
The senior makes the list for the third week in a row. Matthews had another impressive performance that resulted in a double-double Tuesday, when he posted 24 points and 27 rebounds in the Demons’ 63-47 win over Buckeye.
Dylan Pendleton, Coronado
The senior scored 32 of Coronado’s 46 points in Tuesday’s 54-46 loss to Vista Grande. Pendleton also had five steals, five deflections, four rebounds and an assist.
Corey Perry, Peoria
Another player making the list for the third week is Perry. The senior had 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists, helping Peoria defeat Notre Dame Prep 83-75 on Friday.
Tanner Plitzuweit, Arizona Lutheran Academy
The junior notched a double-double in Tuesday’s 55-41 win over Horizon Honors with 20 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Espn Polanski, Boulder Creek
In Friday’s highly competitive game between the Jaguars and the Liberty Lions, the sophomore put up 23 points along with three assists, two rebounds and a deflection in an 88-83 loss.
Brady Ramon, Salpointe Catholic
Against Nogales on Tuesday, the senior led both teams in scoring with 26 points and added six rebounds, three assists and two steals to help the Lancers secure a 77-41 victory. He had another explosive game Friday, scoring 25 points with five assists and four steals to help Salpointe Catholic defeat Tucson 70-49.
Chino Salas-Zorrilla, Camp Verde
The junior had 23 points, six steals and five assists in Camp Verde’s 70-37 victory over Parker on Friday.
Jalen Scott, Paradise Honors
The senior had an insane stat line, achieving a quadruple-double Friday with 13 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and 10 steals in a 94-47 victory over Youngker.
Caleb Simpson, Saguaro
The senior led the team in scoring with 20 points in Tuesday’s 62-60 victory over ALA-Queen Creek. He also had three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Pike Tancil, Willow Canyon
The junior helped lift the Wildcats to a 97-44 win over Glendale on Tuesday with 23 points, five assists, five steals and three rebounds before posting 26 points, six rebounds, five assists and five deflections in Thursday’s 75-63 win over Barry Goldwater.
Elijah Thomas, Valley Vista
The senior had 20 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in Thursday’s 71-60 victory over Pinnacle before posting a double-double Friday with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six steals in a 70-47 win over Willow Canyon.
Zereoue Williams, Mountain Pointe
The senior had 17 points, 27 rebounds and eight blocks to help lift the Pride to a 70-60 victory over Queen Creek on Friday.
CJ Wiggins, Gila Ridge
Wiggins, a senior, posted 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in Wednesday’s 71-27 win over Kofa.
Brigg Wolfe, Mountain View
The sophomore led his team in scoring with 21 points in Tuesday’s 73-53 win over rival Red Mountain. Wolfe also had eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
Merhauti Xepera, Maricopa
The junior posted a double-double in Thursday’s 53-44 loss to Shadow Ridge with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
