Providence's Eli Jerzembeck, South Rowan's J.D. James, Randleman's Brooks Bannon and Perquimans' Tanner Thach pushed their teams over the top.

SBLive is taking a closer look and getting your opinion on who was the Most Valuable MVP at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state baseball championships. All four were brilliant in leading their teams to state titles and earning individual MVP honors in their respective classifications, but who stood above the rest?

4A - Eli Jerzembeck, Providence
Eli Jerzembeck was Providence’s ace all spring and he was again in the 4A state finals. After pitching his team to a 3-0 win in game one with a complete game three-hitter that included 10 strikeouts, he was brought on in a bases load, no out situation in the bottom of the 10th inning of game two, after his team scored twice to take a 3-1 lead. He calmly closed out the game with two strikeouts and a groundout.

3A - J.D. James, South Rowan
First-baseman J.D. James went 6-for-10 in the three game series and scored a pair of runs, as South Rowan rebounded from a game one loss to defeat South Brunswick two straight times in the 3A state finals.

2A - Brooks Brannon, Randleman
In a two game sweep of Whiteville, Randleman’s Brooks Brannon swung a big stick. He went 6-for-9 with two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and four RBI. His two-run triple in the third inning of the second game started a five-run rally that wiped out an early Whiteville 3-0 lead, as the Tigers went on to a 12-5 win.

1A - Tanner Thach, Perquimans
Tanner Thach pitched a brilliant one-hit shutout in Perquimans’ 1-0 shutout victory over Cherryville in the first game of the 1A championship series and then came on in relief, on two different occasions, in game three to help his team nail down a 6-1 state title clinching victory.
