Putnam City West track athlete Caya Smith is the Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week (April 24-30)

Smith wins high jump, participates on two first-place relay squads at Big 7 meet

Caya Smith turned in a memorable day at the track on April 27.

Smith, a junior on the Putnam City West girls track team, finished first in the high jump event at the Big 7 Track and Field Championships in Midwest City. She had a jump that measured 5-4, which was four inches higher than second place.

In addition, Smith participated on two first-place relay squads at the meet. She was on the 400-meter squad that won in a time of 49.03, as well as the 800-meter relay team that took first with a time of 1:45.28.

For her efforts, Smith was voted the SBLive Oklahoma Athlete of the Week covering April 24-30.
