Congratulations to Echo’s Sam Wyse for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Oregon Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 13-19. 

Wyse, a senior on the Echo football team, had 141 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for the Cougars in their 34-19 win over Elkton in a Class 1A 6-man state playoff semifinal tilt at Hillsboro Stadium. 

Wyse received 47.84% of the vote, beating out Easton Berry, a junior on the Weston-McEwen/Griswold football team, who finished second with 44.57%. Boston Hodges, a senior on the Dayton football team, was third with 3.24% and Maddox King, a junior on the Weston-McEwen/Griswold football team, was fourth with 2.29%. There were more than 14,000 votes tallied this week.
