While high schools and high school sports across Washington are closed for the school year, the Scorebook Live Today podcast has ramped things up.

Each weekday, analyst Dan Dickau is interviewing a special guest from across the sports and entertainment spectrum. Dickau hopes to both entertain and provide perspective to understand how uniquely sports can prepare one for a wide array of things.

On Thursday, Mark Hendrickson joins. The Mount Vernon legend and former Washington State standout is one of 13 athletes who have played in both the NBA (four seasons) and MLB (13 seasons). The 6-foot-9 Hendrickson led Mount Vernon to two state basketball titles. Hendrickson talks about his high school basketball days playing under three-time state championship-winning coach Mac Fraser and how playing multiple sports — namely tennis — helped him succeed.
