2021 Class 4A champ Graham-Kapowsin opens the 2024 Washington high school football season Friday in a non-league matchup 3A powerhouse O'Dea.

The two face off at 5 p.m. Pacific time. The game was streamed live on the NFHS Network (subscription only).

Unofficial stats: Tuivaiave (GK) 22 of 34, 347 yards, three TDs, two INT; Norris (GK) 6 catches, 170 yards, two TDs.. O'Dea 33 rushes, 250 yards.

FOURTH QUARTER

TOUCHDOWN, O'Dea: -- Wow! David Schwerzel, one of the Irish's defensive lineman, bats ball out of Tuivaiave's hands before he could pass, picks up fumble and rumbles 34 yards for game-winning score.. (O'Dea, 35-28; :04).

TOUCHDOWN, Graham-Kapowsin: -- On fourth down, Tuivaiave - who returned after missing a play with a sideline injury - throws a 2-yard score to Flores. Eagles line up to go for 2, but after two times, settle on PAT kick. (28-28; 1:22).

TOUCHDOWN, O'Dea: -- Irish were in a hole - and Speller bailed them out on one single delay step and go. He rumbled 56 yards down right sideline for go-ahead core  (O'Dea, 28-21; 5:52).

TOUCHDOWN, Graham-Kapowsin: -- Tuivaiave might have found a favorite target - Norris. The duo hooks up for another long score, this time a 61yarder.  (21-21; 7:10).

TOUCHDOWN, O'Dea: -- Irish got much-needed interception, then marched 61 yards on nine plays, with Egan finishing it off on 9-yard dive play run.  (O'Dea, 21-14; 8:53).

THIRD QUARTER

TOUCHDOWN, Graham-Kapowsin: -- Betz has been a player coaches have talked about this offseason, and he got the step he nedded down right sideline to beat defender and haul in 38-yard pass from Tuivaiave.  (14-14; 3:10).

TOUCHDOWN, Graham-Kapowsin: -- Eagles needed that. Tuivaiave throws over entire defense, and Norris had defender beat by 5 yards on 62-yard score (it is ninth grader's first prep touchdown pass).  (O'Dea, 14-7; 7:05).

TOUCHDOWN, O'Dea: -- Thomas takes pitch right, finds a seam and is not touched on 51-yard score down right sideline. Irish's first play of second half after Eagles had pass first. Pass conversion good.. (O'Dea, 14-0; 8:36).
