Report: San Diego Padres fire GM Josh Byrnes
The San Diego Padres have fired general manager Josh Byrnes, according to Bleacher Report's Scott Miller.
Byrnes was hired by the Padres in December 2010 as Vice President of Baseball Operations. He was promoted to GM in 2011. In Byrnes' three seasons with San Diego, the club went 223-263. According to Miller, VP of Scouting A.J. Hinch, Senior VP of Baseball Operations Omar Minaya and assistant GM Fred Uhlman will all have increased responsibilities as the Padres conduct a search to replace Byrnes.
Byrnes previously served as general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
