The San Francisco Giants' flight to Miami was diverted to Las Vegas Thursday because pitching coach Dave Righetti was ill and needed to be hospitalized. A team spokesman said Friday that Righetti is now feeling fine.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that only about a half-dozen players were on the plane, along with team doctor Kenneth Akizuki. The Giants were headed to Miami for a three-game weekend series against the Marlins

Righetti is not expected to join the team this weekend in Miami. He has been the pitching coach for the Giants since 2000. Righetti's playing career spanned 16 seasons and included two All-Star selections, the 1981 Rookie of the Year award and a no-hitter in 1983.
