COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) Joe Garagiola, Roger Angell and Eric Nadel were honored Saturday at Doubleday Field in the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum's annual awards ceremony.

The 88-year-old Garagiola received the Buck O'Neil Lifetime Achievement Award and sent a taped message. The 93-year-old Angell was given with the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for meritorious contributions to baseball writing and Nadel got the Ford C. Frick Award for major contributions to baseball broadcasting.

Only a day away from the induction ceremony, class of 2014 members Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas, and managers Joe Torre, Bobby Cox and Tony La Russa were a little antsy as they anticipated their big day.

Torre, who will have an entourage of at least 70 people, says he's ''nervous as a cat.''
