The San Diego Padres will place outfielder Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore left knee, the team announced

Quentin did not play in the Padres 8-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. He is only batting .177 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 50 games this season.

The team also announced that second baseman JeddGyorko, who hasn’t played since June 4, will come off the disabled list. In a corresponding roster move second baseman Brooks Conrad will be optioned to Triple-A El Paso.

The team said that right-hander Ian Kennedy will miss his scheduled start on Monday because of a mild left oblique strain.  Jason Lane will take his place in the rotation and start Monday’s game against Atlanta.
