It definitely became a bit of a running joke within the Los Angeles Angels' franchise over the past decade or so when the front office went on a pitcher shopping spree. Whether it was through the draft or free agency, they could not get enough and Arte Moreno oversaw a lot of these decisions.

However, LA has been able to reap some of the benefits now and we've most recently seen Chase Silseth and Sam Bachman get called up this season to fill out the bullpen. The most interesting part about these roster moves is that both of these guys were drafted in 2021 and had no AAA experience, speaking on just how confident the organization is in them.

And it's looking like another pitching prospect is on the rise for the Halos right now and that is none other than Jorge Marcheco. Marcheco is still very young and joined LA back in 2021 as a free agent. He is getting a lot of run this season within the California League and Bleacher Report experts are very high on his ceiling.

"Signed for just $35,000 in September of 2021, Marcheco is just 20 years old and pitching very well in full-season ball. He’s pitched into the sixth in each of his last four starts, allowing just 18 hits and five walks over 23 2/3 IP (0.97 WHIP). He has 22 K’s and a 3.04 ERA over the past month and is currently third in the California League with his 2.48 ERA and second with his 0.92 WHIP for the season."

Time and time again, I've talked about how the recent youth movement within the Angels' organization has done wonders for them this season. Despite having clear superstars and experienced veterans on the squad, sometimes you need some young guys to balance out the dynamic.

Obviously, the Halos will not look to bring up someone as green as Marcheco just yet but as long as he keeps doing what he's doing in the minors, we'll see him before we know it.
