The Los Angeles Angels have suffered through their fair share of injuries, and they've lost some key pieces along the way. One, in particular, is a player who has missed a ton of time in his tenure as an Angel, third baseman Anthony Rendon

Rendon has had a healthy season up until last Saturday when he suffered a groin strain that has sidelined him since. The 32-year-old was placed on the 10-day IL that was retroactive on May 14th, and Wednesday marks the 10th day; however, Wednesday won't be the day he will return.

According to Angels insider Jeff Flecther, Rendon has yet to begin on-field activities, but Halos skipper Phil Nevin is confident his third baseman won't be out for too long.

Third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin strain) still has not begun on-field activity, but Nevin said he still doesn’t expect Rendon to be out long. He would be eligible to return on Wednesday. “But hopefully it’s not much longer than that,” Nevin said. “He’s starting to progress and ramp up the things he’s doing inside. …

The two-time silver slugger has yet to reach 100 games played in a season in his time in Orange County. Excluding the 2020 shortened season, in which he played 52 out of the 60 games, Rendon has only played in 105 out of the possible 324 games in the last two seasons. In four seasons as a Halo, he's only played in 187 games as of May 23rd. It's safe to safe the signing of Rendon has been an utter disaster, but it has nothing to do with Rendon's game.

When he's out there for the Halos, he's batting .259 with an OPS of .780 and 23 homers, and 96 RBIs. We hope he can overcome the injury bug and that his groin strain doesn't affect him in the long run. The Angels have no shot at the playoffs if they're not healthy, and Anthony has much to do with determining their success.
