Angels utility man Luis Rengifo was forced to exit Thursday's game without making a plate appearance.

Rengifo was in the on-deck circle, seemed to maybe hurt himself on a practice swing, was looked at by trainers and then taken out of the game and replaced by OF Randal Grichuk.

Rengifo hunched over in pain and taking a practice swing, and immediately got looked at by athletic trainer Mike Frostad and manager Phil Nevin. He appeared to be clutching his hand or forearm area.

Rengifo has been the Angels' best player as of late, coming off a dominant week that saw him win the American League Player of the Week award.

Hopefully it's nothing serious, but it's not very often you see a player removed from the game with an injury after being in the on-deck circle.

We'll continue to provide updates on the situation when we learn more.
