Just days after a no-show to the media, Angel third baseman Anthony Rendon's injury update even has his coaches confused as to when his return could possibly be.

Halos skipper Phil Nevin was just as speechless on a possible return for the expensive infielder to the field with his latest ailment indicating another disaster season on his massive contract.

“The injury has to get out of the leg. We don’t know how long that’s going to take. This is a significant injury. It’s very painful. There’s certainly damage inside the bone. It’s not broken, but there’s damage inside the bone that’s affecting the way he walks and moves and the way he’s doing everything in daily life.”

It would be very helpful to get an update from the man himself, but after his own media no-show in such unprofessional fashion, such a possibility seems more far-fetched by the day.

Rendon is in the midst of another lost season after signing a massive seven year contract with Anaheim after winning a ring with the Washington Nationals in 2019.

His absence, along with many other absences, have been unfortunate for the Angels for the past three seasons, but especially this year after the front office's moves to buy at the deadline.

Even when healthy, though that's been quite sparse for his Angels tenure, Rendon hasn't exactly lived up to the giant billing the Halos signed him to in each of his four seasons donning red.

Nevin's concerns over his player are yet another chapter in what's been a disappointing season story in Anaheim this year.

Swept by the Mariners over the weekend, the playoffs seem like a long shot for the organization in what could be Shohei Ohtani's final games in Orange County for the Big A.
