The Los Angeles Angels officially announced their signing of relief pitcher Matt Moore. He signed a one-year contract with the team, and it's a reunion for the two sides.

Moore spent most of the 2023 season as a member of the Angels before they put him on waivers shortly after the trade deadline. He was claimed by the Cleveland Guardians, and then the Miami Marlins before electing free agency after the year.

Moore was very effective during his time with the Angels last season, making 41 appearances. He posted an ERA of 2.66 with 49 strikeouts in 44 innings of work.

The Angels put him on waivers in an effort to get under the luxury tax line, not due to his performance. He only made five appearances for the Guardians, registering an ERA of 3.86 over 4.2 innings.

With Miami, he pitched in four innings over four games. Moore didn't allow a run but was still placed on waivers since he couldn't join the Marlins in their postseason run.

He will look to get back to his dominant form with the Angels again this season. The Halos have added a lot of talent to their bullpen, and Moore will be given a crucial role within it.

In order to make room for Moore, the Angels designated first baseman/outfielder Try Cabbage for assignment. Cabbage played in 23 games for the Halos last season, hitting .208 in 53 at-bats.

He only hit one home run and drove in seven runs. Cabbage made his MLB debut last season, so there could be plenty left in the tank for other clubs to give him a shot.
