Angels Reassign Pitching Prospect in Latest Round of Roster Cuts

The latest round of roster cuts.

The Los Angeles Angels announced five more roster cuts on Monday. The Angels have re-assigned Caden Dana and Jason Martin to minor league camp, and also optioned Jordyn Adams, Kyren Paris and Victor Mederos, via Angels PR

These cuts came a day after the Angels optioned right-hander Jack Kochanowicz and re-assigned Adam Kolarek to their minor league camp.

Though this news is not necessarily surprising, it is significant as it includes some of the top Angels prospects, including Dana.

Dana made three appearances in his first major league spring training camp. He allowed four runs across six innings, striking out three and walking two.

He is the team’s top pitching prospect per MLB.com, and their No. 3 prospect overall.

Mederos also made an impression pitching for the Angels through spring. During Cactus League play, Mederos led the Angels in strikeouts with 12. He pitched 8.2 innings and allowed five hits, three earned runs and three walks for a 3.12 ERA.

Second baseman Kyren Paris was also optioned. The Angels' No. 4 prospect received 23 at-bats and recorded five hits, three stolen bases and two RBIs. He struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Adams notched four hits, five runs, two stolen bases and seven walks, while striking out six times. Lastly, Martin recorded four hits, four RBIs and one home run across 17 at-bats.

Dana and Paris will get another chance to shine in the Angels' Spring Breakout game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
