Following the acquisition of two bats, the Houston Astros still couldn't get the offense moving against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Behind a Cristian Javier quality start, the Astros could only add a sliver of run support.

Houston jumped on the board first with an RBI-single off the bat of Yuli Gurriel in the first frame as the hometown club didn't cross home again Tuesday night. The Astros stranded nine batters to the Red Sox three.

Rafael Devers evened play with a double to right field in the fourth inning. Scoring Tommy Pham, Devers added his first of two RBI on the night. In the sixth inning, the lefty launched a no-doubt, solo home run to right field.

Cristian Javier tossed six two-run innings on 97 pitches. The right-hander punched out seven batters to his four hits and one walk. On the opposite end, Kutter Crawford spun six innings for his third quality start of the year in his first outing against the Astros.

Tre Mancini and Christian Vázquez made their Astros debut in the ninth inning pinch hitting for Jake Meyers and Martín Maldonado, respectively. Although both grounded out, they are in line to start Wednesday.

Houston looks to avoid a sweep at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday. José Urquidy and left-hander Rich Hill are the probable starters.
