The Houston Astros' no. 1 overall prospect Hunter Brown took a huge leap in Baseball America's most recent prospect rankings.

The right-hander clocked in at no. 54, nearly 30 spots higher than his MLB.com placement at no. 84.

Brown's jump in the rankings is promising, and he is the sole representative from Houston in the top 100, with shortstop Jeremy Peña graduating from prospect status this season.

The 23-year-old has put up solid numbers with Triple-A Sugar Land in 2022, pitching to a 2.38 ERA and an impressive 12.1 K/9 across 72 innings. He's appeared in 16 games, starting in 11 of them, and has amassed a 1.11 WHIP.

Houston's plan for Brown is currently unknown, but he's seen as "major league-ready" and could potentially help the team down the stretch as they hope to give their starting staff some rest ahead of a postseason run.

Should Brown debut in the second-half, he would be the third top Astros prospect to make the bigs this season. In addition to Peña, catcher Korey Lee was welcomed to the show on July 1.
