It had been a couple of weeks since Ronald Acuña Jr. hit a home run. He ended that streak Saturday night.

Acuña Jr. launched a ball 464 feet into the stands to extend the Atlanta Braves' lead to 5-1 against Arizona.

As we mentioned, Atlanta's sending Spencer Strider to the mound. The righty from Clemson is 5-2 w/ a 2.97 ERA in his eleven stats on the year, with an MLB leading 106 strikeouts (at 15.0 K/9, also the MLB-leading pace) in his 63.2 innings pitched. He's faced the Diamondbacks once, on May 30th, 2022, giving up five runs (three earned) on four his in four and a third innings, striking out seven but taking the loss in a 6-2 Arizona victory.

Opposing the Braves is Diamondbacks youngster Ryne Nelson. The 2019 2nd round pick has started eleven games, going 2-2 on the season with a 5.37 ERA in his eleven starts. He's struck out thirty seven batters, while walking eighteen in fifty-seven innings. No member of the Braves roster has ever faced him in the major leagues.
