The Chicago Cubs enter the 2024 season with high hopes. After a somewhat quiet offseason, the Cubs made their big splash by re-signing Cody Bellinger.

To put it in review, Chicago made Craig Counsell their new manager, re-signed Bellinger, and signed Shota Imanaga and Hector Neris. Other moves were made, but those were the four that made this offseason a somewhat successful one.

While there was more to be done, they should feel confident heading into the year with what they have.

Goals are big this year for the organization. Compared to years past, this is one of the first seasons that they have any expectations.

So, heading into the season, what's the biggest goal for the team?

According to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, the biggest goal for the Cubs this season is to make Counsell a repeat National League Central champion.

Castrovince writes that Counsell going to Chicago is an upgrade and the additions of Michael Busch and Imanaga intrigue him.

He questions if the Cubs are that much better than they were last season until their young talent proves they can play at this level.

The oddsmakers give them a chance to win the Central.

Chicago currently sits at +185 to win the division, the same as the St. Louis Cardinals.

It's going to take a collective effort for a chance to win the division. While the NL Central is regarded as one of the worst divisions in baseball, there are teams that could run away with the division if the Cubs don't play their best baseball.
