Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jesse Chavez has signed with the Atlana Braves. The 40-year-old signed with the Braves on a minor league contract that included an invitation to training camp, via the Braves PR team.

The right-handed pitcher last played for the Dodgers in 2016, during a brief stint with the team. He arrived in Los Angeles when he was traded in August of 2016, where he would remain with the team for the rest of the season. Overall, Chavez played in 23 games and had a 4.21 ERA.

Chavez has become a journeyman pitcher, especially over the last few years. After beginning his MLB career with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2008-2009, Chavez was traded to the Braves in late 2009, when he had his first stint with the Braves.

Chavez is now on his fifth stint with the Braves, having played for the team in 2010, 2021, parts of the 2022 season and 2023. This includes when Chavez was part of the Braves' World Series winning team in 2021. After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Chavez signed with the Chicago White Sox in February. However, the White Sox released him this past weekend, so Chavez is making his return to Atlanta on a minor league deal.

Overall, Chavez has played for the Pirates, Braves, Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, and Texas Rangers throughout his MLB career. He has a 4.30 career ERA with nine total saves.
