Dodgers Manager Provides Unsettling Injury Updates on 2 Relievers

The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 7-1 on Thursday, but it wasn't all good news for the Boys in Blue.

Before the Dodgers' dominant win, manager Dave Roberts provided an update on two of the team's injured relievers.

Roberts said that both Brusdar Graterol and Blake Treinen were "a ways away" from making their returns to the mound.

Graterol is dealing with multiple injuries — hip tightness and right shoulder inflammation — and landed on the 15-day injured list to start the season.

As for Treinen, he was working his way back from shoulder surgery, and then got struck by a comebacker in spring training right before the team left for Korea. Treinen has a lung contusion, and is also on the injured list to start the season.

Graterol was one of the Dodgers' best relievers last year, sporting a 1.20 ERA in 68 appearances.

As for Treinen, he hasn't pitched since 2022, and hasn't pitched a full season since 2021, when he had a 1.99 ERA in 72 appearances.

Both pitchers will likely have to throw rehab appearances before returning to the team, but it sounds like it could be a little while before we see them back with Los Angeles.

Both pitchers played catch today, but neither have started throwing bullpens.
