Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani Plays Catch on Friday as Throwing Program Continues

Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, fresh off a 2-for-3 Dodger Stadium debut on Thursday, was playing catch in the outfield on Friday as he continues his throwing program.

Ohtani started throwing earlier this week, as he began his throwing program following offseason surgery.

Ohtani suffered a torn UCL last season with the Angels, and was shut down as a pitcher. He was then shut down altogether after suffering an oblique injury.

This offseason, Ohtani underwent a hybrid Tommy John surgery, and won't return to the mound until 2025.

Here's a video of Ohtani playing catch on Friday with Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman (and a ton of media members) looking on:

Ohtani will only be hitting for the Dodgers this season, and he's already off to a hot start, going 5-for-13 (.385) with a double and two runs batted in.

He's back in the Dodgers lineup batting second on Friday night, but was able to get some throwing work in before the game.
