Dodgers Lose Free Agent to AL Powerhouse: Report

The Boys in Blue lose their infielder to this elite AL East squad.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have lost another one of their free agents. According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the Baltimore Orioles and free agent infielder Kolten Wong agreed to a minor league deal.

Wong will join the team at their big-league camp.

After other infield free agents were picked up last week, Wong became attractive to MLB clubs.

After being released by the Seattle Mariners in August due to underwhelming play, the Dodgers took a chance on the two-time Gold Glove award winner via a minor league deal.

Wong ended up playing 20 regular season games in Los Angeles, where he slashed .300/.353/.500 with a .853 OPS, two home runs, eight RBIs, and nine hits in 30 at-bats.

It was night and day for Wong compared to his time in Seattle, and he even earned a spot on the postseason roster, where he went 0-for-3 with a walk.

However, the chances of the Dodgers bringing him back were very slim, as their position player roster was full. The Dodgers could have brought back Wong on a minor league deal, but there wouldn't have been any chance he opened the season on the active roster barring an injury.

So intead, Wong will head to the Orioles — his fourth team in the last two years — where he'll hope to impress and break camp with them.
