Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani's Mystery Wife Revealed
One of the most fun and unexpected storylines of the Dodgers' offseason kicked off when Shohei Ohtani revealed he had gotten married. He announced the marriage in a cryptic social media post weeks ago, shocking many people who didn't even know he was officially dating anyone. That included his former teammate, Mike Trout.
Ohtani let it be known that his wife was a "normal Japanese woman", but new information has shown that she is a former basketball player: Mamiko Tanaka.
Somehow this was missed by everyone in the media, including the Japanese press. But Ohtani was seen in a photo with her before he went off to Korea for the Dodgers' opening games against the San Diego Padres.
Ohtani is a fairly private person, so the lack of news about his wife isn't surprising. Her identity was only revealed when he posted a photo of the couple together to his Instagram account; the Dodgers did the same.
Don't expect Ohtani to reveal much about the new Mrs. He's made it clear he prefers to keep his off-the-field life private. But it's also nice for the face of baseball to be sharing a little more about his life with the fans who support him.
