Familiar Friend Makes Appearance at Dodgers Camp

A huge guest visits the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted a special guest at Spring Training on Sunday — Will Ferrell. Though the Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 12-1 in their Cactus League game, the highlight of the day was easily Ferrell showing up to camp.

The comedian and movie star showed up and crashed Dodgers manager Dave Roberts' interview. Ferrell jokingly asked about the prospect "Ferrell" that the team had traded for, and if the team had given up too much for him.

Roberts matched Ferrell's jokes right back to him while speaking with reporters.

"This Ferrell guy we just acquired last night. Just to show how much he cares about competing and wanting to be a Dodger, he flew out, first flight this morning from Los Angeles ... he's had a track of playing in the Cactus League years ago and it didn't go great, but he hit all the teams so we're gonna give him another shot."

Ferrell has mixed with the Dodgers organization for years now. In 2015, he played for ten different Cactus League teams, including the Dodgers, before the season.

The proceeds of the merchandise sold from his appearances were then donated to cancer charities. He's also teamed up with several Dodgers stars — including Clayton Kershaw and Mookie Betts — for various charity fundraisers and events.
