Julio Urías News: Latest Update on Former Dodgers Pitcher

There have been some updates regarding the free agent pitcher.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías was arrested for alleged felony domestic violence on Sept. 3. Almost immediately, the organization washed their hands of the pitcher, and he was placed on administrative leave.

While the organization itself has not provided any updates, there have been some developments since the season ended.

Law enforcement authorities have concluded their investigation into Urías' arrest, and have turned their case over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, which will determine whether Urías will be criminally charged.

As of the publication of this article, he still has not been formally charged.

There is no timetable for a decision by the DA's office. A potential suspension by MLB, which is conducting an independent investigation, likely would have to wait until after the DA's office renders its judgment, given that the league presumably would not be able to interview Urías until then.

Urías was arrested in the evening on September 3 following an MLS match in Los Angeles. MLB placed him on administrative leave three days later, which ended his season.

Since then, law enforcement has conducted its own investigation into the matter. Since that has concluded, it will be up to the DA whether or not to charge Urias.

After the decision has been rendered by the DA, MLB will conduct its own investigation and levy its own punishment.

This is Urías' second potential domestic violence infraction. In 2019 he was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and served a 20-game suspension.
