Most of Dodgers Record Setting Infield to Reunite for 50th Anniversary

Tune in for the celebration!

The Dodgers will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their “Legendary Infield” on Friday, June 2023 prior to their game against the Houston Astros at Dodger Stadium. First baseman Steve Garvey, second baseman Davey Lopes, shortstop Bill Russell and third baseman Ron Cey will be honored, as they were apart of the teams historic infield unit from 1973-1981.

Unfortunately, Lopes won’t be able to attend the event but the others will be there for the pregame festivities. These will include a tribute video for the men, honoring the time that they spent together in blue. The three men will also partake in throwing out the ceremonial first pitches for the game.

The players were broken up in 1982, with Lopes being traded away.  However, the impact they made within the Dodgers organization can’t be understated. During their playing days, these four players combined for 21 All-Star game appearances and the Dodgers won one World Series title in 1981. Additionally, the team saw four National League West division wins and four National League pennants as well.

Staying together on the team for that long was quite the accomplishment and they deserve to be honored. It’ll be a special moment for all involved and a chance for all Dodger fans, young and old, to share in the celebration.
