Top Dodgers Prospect Fully Healthy After Finishing 2023 Injured
Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages was primed for a breakout season in 2023 before a torn labrum shut him down for the season. According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, he has fully recovered ahead of the 2024 season.
Pages might be the best power bat in the entire Dodgers' farm system. In 2022, he slugged 26 home runs in 132 Double-A games with a .805 OPS.
Last year, the right-hander took a step forward in Double-A with a .925 OPS in 33 games. The Dodgers then called him up to Triple-A Oklahoma City. However, he only played in one game before having season-ending surgery.
Shoulder surgeries can be tricky to return from. Historically, it takes time for the player to regain the strength in their shoulder. Notably, Cody Bellinger, Matt Kemp and Adrian Gonzalez took significant time to recover from their shoulder surgeries.
Pages can take all the time he needs to recover. He just turned 23 and will start the year off in Triple-A, where the average player is 25 years old.
If all goes well with his recovery, fans could see him make his way to the major league level this year. The Dodgers signed Teoscar Hernández to hit left-handed pitching. If something happens to Hernández, Pages might be the first player called up to replace him.
In 2022, Pages had a 1.147 against southpaws with 13 home runs. He had the same number of home runs against right-handed pitching but in three times the plate appearances.
He's an exciting prospect for a team that needs someone to hit left-handed pitching.
