Tyler Glasnow, Dave Roberts React to Dominant Start for Dodgers' Ace

The hot start continues for Tyler Glasnow. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher put in his best start yet as a Dodger on Tuesday in the team's 6-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. Glasnow pitched a total of seven innings and allowed three hits, zero earned runs, and zero walks while striking out 14 batters. This was his first start for the Dodgers not allowing a run.

Glasnow's performance was so dominant, he became the first MLB pitcher to strike out at least 14 batters in a game while throwing less than 90 pitches since pitches began getting tracked in 1988.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had nothing but praise for Glasnow after this game, calling him an "ace."

“That was as dominant as we’ve seen him all year,” Roberts said, via SportsNet LA. “To have a guy that can shut a team out — and you can throw up a couple crooked numbers and win the ballgame and save a lot of your leverage (bullpen) guys — it’s certainly comforting and exciting.”

“You look at the big leagues, he’s an ace for any team,” Roberts added. “He demonstrated that tonight, I thought.”

Glasnow broke down how he was feeling leading into this career performance, crediting more consistency in his direction for the success.

“I felt just a lot more balanced today,” Glasnow said, via SportsNet LA. “I think just everything like my direction going towards home was more consistent than normal and I think everything was able to tunnel off of it. I think even the couple misfires were misfires in the zone, so (I was) just being able to throw more strikes and get ahead of guys.”

All in all, the Dodgers appear to have made a home run acquisition in trading for Glasnow and signing him to an extension. So far this season Glasnow has become the team's top starter, and has a 2.25 ERA. Glasnow is expected to get his next start in the Dodgers' series against the Washington Nationals next week.
