Miami Marlins Hurler Has Been an Incredible Surprise for the Bullpen

The Miami Marlins have a surprise arm in the bullpen this Spring.

The Miami Marlins are dealing with some pitching questions, but an answer could be on the roster.

Like most teams, there are still questions with starting rotation but the Marlins have questions about the bullpen as well. This spring, there's been a returning arm returning to form for the Marlins.

Sixto Sánchez has been a pleasant surprise this Spring. His ERA is 0.00 after appearing in three games and pitching four innings with three strikeouts. His confidence is coming back. He had a solid two-inning outing in Miami's 2-1 loss to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.

"When all is said and done, Sixto is showing what we needed to see the velo is there," Peter Pratt said on Locked On Marlins. "No one can get a stick on him at this point. He's walking around like he owns the mound."

While questions are circulating about the health of a handful of Maimi Marlins pitchers, the idea of giving Sánchez opportunities to eat some innings at the start of the season is making sense.

"For Me, this is nailed on," Pratt added. "Sixto is going to be on the roster from the pen. It feels like they're going to manage him closely but the way things are going with the rotation, the Marlins may need him in the rotation sooner rather than later. Which I thought was interesting that he was asked to go two innings (Wednesday). Could that be the next progression for Sixto?"

Sánchez is 3-2 throughout his MLB career. The 25-year-old is 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA in seven starts. He's pitched for 39 total innings and recorded 33 strikeouts.
