The Miami Marlins Are Not Respected in the Latest MLB Power Rankings

The Miami Marlins find themselves in the bottom third of MLB.

The Miami Marlins can be found in the bottom third of MLB when it comes to expectations this season.

Injuries continue to pile up throughout the roster and some of the players that the Marlins are counting on, have a history of missing time.

In the latest MLB.com Power Rankings, the Miami Marlins came in at spot 23. They were previously ranked at 21. Will Leitch, the author of the rankings, highlighted the importance of Jazz Chisholm's health.

"You know what would be really nice in 2024? To see a full, healthy season from Jazz Chisholm Jr," Leitch writes. "He was one of the most exciting players in baseball just 12 months ago -- the guy on the cover of MLB The Show, for crying out loud. Too many people have forgotten how joyous it can be to watch him play."

Chisholm played 97 games in 2023 for the Marlins. In 2022, he played just 60 contests. His ability is there but the inability to stay healthy will be a narrative that follows him until he finds a way to be available.

According to these rankings, the Miami Marlins are expected to be the bottom dwellers of the NL East this season despite making the postseason a year ago. The rankings for the entire NL East according to MLB.com's Leitch are as follows:

1. The Atlanta Braves (Previously ranked first)

4. The Philadelphia Phillies (Previously ranked fifth)

9. The Tampa Bay Rays (Previously ranked seventh)

16. The New York Mets (Previously ranked twelfth)

23. The Miami Marlins (Previously ranked twenty-first)
