Miami Marlins Podcaster Makes Case To Sign Free Agent Pitching

The Miami Marlins need pitching as Opening Day draws near.

The Miami Marlins had a tough Spring Training when it came to keeping their pitching healthy.

Braxton Garrett will miss time due to his shoulder. The same can be said for Edward Cabrera. Eury Perez will miss time because of his elbow.

Locked On Marlins host Peter Pratt made the case that Miami should reach out to free-agent pitcher Trevor Bauer. Bauer has been making his case to MLB teams by pitching and showing he's ready in game-action this Spring.

"A relatively proven innings-eating type dude is available for league minimum," Pratt said on Locked On Marlins. "So, potentially high-quality innings at the lowest possible cost. Peter Bendix has built everything around buying low and realizing the upside."

Bauer announced that he will be pitching against the New York Yankees with Diablos Rojos MX on March 24. He will also pitch five games between April 11 and May 8 according to a statement made by Bauer.

"Trevor Bauer for the Marlins is the ultimate upside move and the Marlins at this point, need him," Pratt said on Locked On Marlins. "They need Trevor Bauer. They need someone to throw quality, at least mid-rotation quality big league innings. And throw many of them. And not pay any money. That is the exact profile that Peter Bendix is seeking."

Bauer, the 2020 Cy Young Winner, said publicly that he will pitch for the veteran minimum salary of $740,000. His last season in the MLB was 2021. He went 8-5 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He threw for 107.2 innings and had a 2.56 ERA.
