Former Mets Hurler Still Available; Could Reunion Be On Horizon In New York?

Should the Mets consider a reunion to help the bullpen?

The New York Mets still have some more work to do this offseason.

New York seems to be pretty content with its roster and it likely won't look much different when Spring Training rolls around beginning in February. If the Mets want to make any more additions, though, signing another relief pitcher could make sense.

The Mets may end up losing some of their relievers from last season in free agency so it may make sense to replenish the bullpen. One player who could be an intriguing reunion candidate is one-time All-Star David Robertson.

Robertson joined the Mets ahead of the 2023 season and he was impressive. The 38-year-old logged a 2.05 ERA in 40 appearances with New York and had a 48-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

New York had an underwhelming 2023 season and ended up being one of the biggest sellers ahead of the trade deadline. Although Robertson was impressive with New York, he was traded to the Miami Marlins ahead of the trade deadline.

Robertson struggled after joining the Marlins and logged a 5.06 ERA in 22 appearances with a 30-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

He is a free agent now and would be a very interesting option for the Mets. Robertson certainly wouldn't cost that much because of his age and he already has shown that he can impress with the Mets.

New York needs some help in the bullpen and Robertson could be the perfect option to bring in.
