The Mets' outfield depth at the upper levels of the minor leagues just got a little bit thinner.

On Monday, the Mets released Triple-A Syracuse outfielder Khalil Lee.

In 21 games in the minors this season, Lee was slashing .185/.299/.323 with one homer and seven RBI.

Lee played a total of 13 games for the Mets in the big-leagues between 2021 and 2022. During this span, he slashed .100/.100/.300 with one home run and one double.

The Mets acquired Lee in a three-team trade with the Kansas City Royals in February of 2021.

The Mets designated him for assignment this offseason, but he cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Syracuse. Lee was removed from the 40-man roster with this move.

In February, MLB began investigating assault charges against Lee. According to a lawsuit, which was filed in Syracuse federal court, Lee's ex-girlfriend Keriwyn Hill is alleging that the outfielder assaulted her in May of 2022.

According to The Athletic, a Mets source says Lee's release was a "baseball decision."
