The New York Mets appear to be finished making any major moves this offseason, but they could swing a deal that works out in the long-term.

SNY insider Andy Martino says to "keep an eye on" the Mets signing former Milwaukee Brewers ace Brandon Woodruff.

"One pitcher that I think is worth keeping a bit of an eye on for the Mets is Brandon Woodruff," Martino said.

"Nothing close or particularly hot there with Woodruff and the Mets, but I do think that that's a possibility and something to keep an eye on."

Woodruff, 30, underwent shoulder surgery in October and is expected to miss most of, if not all of the 2024 season. So, if the Mets signed him it would be for a multi-year deal with the most realistic time frame being 2025 for Woodruff to give the team any contributions.

Woodruff and Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns are very familiar with each other, as the ace spent the first seven seasons of his career in Milwaukee.

Woodruff is a two-time All-Star and finished fifth in the NL Cy Young race in 2021. The righty has a career 3.28 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. He posted a 2.28 ERA and 0.82 WHIP in 2023 before his season was cut short due to injury.
